Whooops! Almost forgot to do this only the 2nd week in. But hey! Here I am late, but doing it. Yay to not giving up just because I wasn’t perfect. Go me.
When I was typing in the dates my brain apparently wanted it to be 1993 again because that’s the year I typed at first. And while that wasn’t a bad year (Started in the theatre program at a community college, met the person who would become my partner) uh…that’s a big old NO to being 19 again. I’ll take the small crumbles of wisdom I’ve accumulated in my 48 years instead. :)
So, let’s get to the week:
Burlesque class starts this week! We’re starting off with a little Marlene Dietrich “Look me Over Closely,” here’s a sneak peek of the combo at the top of the post.
Details for the class here: http://misbehaveburlesque.com
It was kind of a slow creative week visual-arts wise, I only got one process reel posted on Instagram, and yes, I did pick the silliest song possible:
I also got a few inserts for the largest insert journals designed- process videos of that next week!
Another important thing I did was attend a library board meeting to support this wonderful program:
It’s all about love and acceptance, enthusiasm for reading, AND they have a fun craft time every month! Check it out if you have little ones in Pocatello.
And now, here’s a little fun behind the scenes of me rocking the rollers and finger waves before filming:
Week in Creativity 2/12/23-2/18/23
Hello hello! The plan is: start doing a weekly round up of the creative stuffs I have done in the past week, share fun creative stuff I find, and post it here. It’s out in the world now, so I at least gotta try to be consistent with it, right? Right.
A few of my dance friends and I have been getting together on Saturday mornings for dance class. We all throw a few bucks in to cover the studio rent, and take turns with teaching duties. It has been enjoyable to be able to take class on a regular basis, as well as move with people I just really like. Here is the combo from our latest class, which I taught. Big movement, moving through space, and a little bit of goofiness as well - a very “Julie” combination.
I will also be teaching a burlesque class on Thursday evenings starting in March, which should be a lot of fun. All the details can be found here:
I have been trying to post two reels a week on instagram showing process, behind the scenes, etc. for the Creations side of Creative Moves. (The algorithm, it must be fed.) I only got one done this week, and it was a boring “getting ready to sand stuff” one:
Which did make me re-watch this classic video from Crafsman on YouTube, “Don’t Forget to Wear your Dust Mask!” (Seriously people, good PPE is important!)
If you want to see something slightly more interesting, here is one I filmed a few weeks ago of making a heart cane using cutters:
That’s it for this week!
